If we seek to address the injustices children face from a Children's rights perspective, you can only get so far. We want to go further. We have a far more powerful platform for change based on Human Rights

Accountability

As organisations and individuals we need to increase our accountability to children and young people. And accountability can only come when we respect children and young people.

Rights and research

Youth led research should promote the realisation of young people's human rights. Truly youth led research is about more than young people being involved - it means working with young people, driven by their questions and concerns.

Holding on and moving forward

We've made a lot of progress in the last few years - but we're at risk of loosing it all unless committed people stay committed, and engage in critical reflection to continue to move children's rights and youth participation forward..

Participation and change

There is no point in the participation of young people unless it leads to change.

Youth Participation and the Big Society

One of the big changes in political dialogue since the coalition government came to power has been the emphasis on ideas of the 'big society'. The big society is not a fixed policy programme, but is a loose collection of ideas - including ideas about localism and citizens taking on roles that previously may have been carried our or co-ordinated by the state.
